Why Etobicoke Homeowners Trust Canada Energy Solution for Attic Insulation

Most Etobicoke homes built before the 1990s have attic insulation that falls well short of today's R-60 standard. Lake Ontario's persistent moisture also degrades older insulation over time, forcing furnaces to work harder and driving up energy bills. Canada Energy Solution has helped over 15,000 GTA families, from Islington Village to Long Branch, upgrade to Owens Corning certified blown-in insulation and reduce heating costs by 20–40%.

Attic Insulation in Etobicoke: Starting from $0.99/sqft

Etobicoke's post-war ranches in Humber Valley, shoreline homes in Mimico and Long Branch, and detached bungalows throughout Rexdale and Alderwood share a challenge that most homeowners don't discover until they see their energy bill: attic insulation that was standard in 1965 is costing real money in 2026.

Lake proximity makes Etobicoke homes especially vulnerable to heat loss, lake-driven wind chill pushes cold air harder against your building envelope than most people realize. Most homes we assess in Etobicoke sit at R-12 to R-20, well below the R-50 minimum for Ontario's HRS rebate program and significantly below the R-60 we recommend. Every year without upgraded attic insulation in Etobicoke, that gap translates into $150–$300 you're spending on heat that disappears through your ceiling.

Canada Energy Solution has been upgrading attic insulation across Etobicoke for over 20 years. We know the housing stock, from character homes near Humber River to large bungalows in Alderwood to 1990s-era builds in Rexdale. As an Owens Corning certified contractor with a 4.9 Google rating, every project includes a 10-year workmanship warranty, R-60 upgrade, and full blown-in insulation or fiberglass options.

Etobicoke Attic Insulation FAQ

Yes. Etobicoke's large stock of post-war detached homes makes it one of the highest-rebate eligibility areas in Toronto. Most homes built before 1980 have insulation levels well below the R-50 minimum required for HRS rebate qualification. Canada Energy Solution is a certified approved contractor.

Yes. Homes near Lake Ontario in Mimico, Long Branch, and New Toronto experience additional wind-driven cold from lake-effect weather patterns. Proper R-60 attic insulation is especially effective in these areas, reducing both heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer from the western sun.

Most Etobicoke homes are completed in a single day. Ranch-style homes with large attic footprints may take a day and a half in some cases.

We serve all of Etobicoke including Mimico, Long Branch, New Toronto, Humber Valley Village, Thorncrest Village, Rexdale, Richview, Thistletown, Humber Bay, Alderwood, Princess-Rosethorn, and all surrounding areas.

Yes. We identify and address moisture sources, typically inadequate soffit ventilation, missing attic baffles, or bathroom exhaust fans venting into the attic, before installing new insulation. Moisture problems left unaddressed will quickly damage even new insulation.

Just clear access to the attic hatch and move any boxes stored in the attic. Our crew brings all equipment and protective floor coverings. We clean up completely before leaving.

How Much Does Attic Insulation Cost in Etobicoke?

What Affects the Price in Etobicoke?

Etobicoke's post-war housing stock is well-suited to attic insulation upgrades. Most homes have open attic spaces with straightforward access, making the work efficient and cost-effective. Our transparent pricing starts at $0.99/sqft.

  • Attic size: Etobicoke bungalows and ranch homes typically have 800–1,200 sqft of insulated attic space
  • Current insulation level: 1950s–1960s Etobicoke homes commonly have R-8 to R-18; reaching R-60 means maximum material usage and therefore maximum rebate eligibility
  • Proximity to Humber River: Homes in Humber Valley and along the river may show higher humidity in the attic, which we address with proper ventilation before insulating
  • Lake proximity: Homes near Lake Ontario in Mimico and Long Branch experience wind-driven cold that makes R-60 even more effective
  • Material choice: Both blown-in cellulose and fiberglass work well in Etobicoke's climate; our inspector recommends the best option

After Ontario HRS rebates, most Etobicoke homeowners recover their out-of-pocket investment within 1–2 heating seasons.

Pre-cut panels of fiberglass or mineral wool designed to fit snugly between joists and studs. Batt insulation is a solid choice for attics with standard framing and no obstructions, and it provides effective thermal and acoustic insulation.

Available in various widths and thicknesses to match your attic framing. Mineral wool batts offer superior fire resistance and sound dampening compared to standard fiberglass.

  • Best for: New builds, standard-framed attics, noise reduction
  • R-Value: 2.9 – 4.3 per inch
  • Typical cost: $1,900 – $2,150

Available in open-cell and closed-cell varieties. Closed-cell spray foam is denser and provides a superior barrier against both air and moisture, while open-cell is more cost-effective and ideal for interior applications.

  • Typical cost: $1,900 – $2,100

House Insulation Types

Insulation materials, including blown-in, foam board, batt, roll, spray foam, and radiant barriers, significantly enhance energy efficiency and comfort in buildings.

Insulation-type-01

Blown-In Insulation

Blown-in insulation, also known as loose-fill insulation, is made of small particles of fiber, foam, or other materials. It's ideal for adding insulation to existing finished areas, irregularly shaped areas, and around obstructions. This type is typically applied using a special blowing device and is perfect for attics and wall cavities.

Insulation-type-02

Batt Insulation

Batt insulation consists of pre-cut panels of fiberglass or mineral wool insulation. It's commonly used in spaces with standard spacing between joists and studs, such as walls, floors, and ceilings. Easy to handle and install, it's a popular choice for DIY projects and offers effective thermal and acoustic insulation.

Insulation-type-03

Roll Insulation

Similar to batt insulation but available in long rolls, roll insulation can be cut and trimmed to fit various spaces. Made primarily of fiberglass, it's suitable for large areas without obstructions, like floors and ceilings. Roll insulation is a cost-effective solution for covering large areas quickly.

Insulation-type-05

Spray Foam Insulation

Spray foam insulation is a liquid foam that expands and hardens upon application, creating a tight seal against air and moisture. It's excellent for sealing gaps, cracks, and voids, providing superior thermal insulation and air sealing. Available in open-cell and closed-cell varieties, it's ideal for a range of applications, including walls, roofs, and around windows and doors.

Insulation-type-04

Foam Board Insulation

Foam board insulation is a rigid panel used to insulate walls, floors, and ceilings. Made from polystyrene, polyisocyanurate, or polyurethane, it provides high insulation value with minimal thickness. Ideal for reducing heat conduction through structural elements like wood and steel studs, it's often used in both new construction and retrofit projects.

Insulation-type-06

Radiant Barrier Insulation

Radiant barrier insulation is designed to reflect heat rather than absorb it. Made from a reflective material like aluminum foil, it's typically installed in attics to reduce summer heat gain and lower cooling costs. This type of insulation is most effective in hot climates and works by reflecting radiant heat away from the living space.

Cover quite lot of the cost

My 20 year old house had tempriture problem on some of the bedroom for many years, though it's time for us to top up the insulation in the attic, there comes John the inspector, I got his number from my colleague, he came and check my attic the very next day I called him and luckly he found out I can be qualified for the government rebate program to cover quite lot of the cost for me, he patiently walked me through the details and helped me do the application.

Very courteous and professional

I got inspector John's number from my friend who have had his service before. He responsed very quickly, called me the same date, and came visit my house the next day. He was very courteous and professional, checked many places in my house and dignosed where the problems are coming from, turns out I only had less than 7" of the insulation on my attic, and its unevenly distributed everywhere, even saw..

Increased to 21 inches

I had my attic insulation increased to 21 inches last weekend. I was skeptical at first when Jakey told me about the numberous benefits of increased attic insulation. Right now, I think the upper rooms feels much warmer and the furnace seems to be running less as well.
